Grant Fuhr was without a doubt, one of the most dominating goaltenders of the 1980's, while wearing the Edmonton Oilers uniform. He was Edmontons first selection in the 1981 NHL entry draft, and played between the pipes 10 years for them before being traded. While displaying the Oilers logo, he won the Vezina Trophy in 1988 and Stanley Cups in 1984, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1990.
March 31, 1990, Fuhr admitted to having used drugs in past years. This admission resulted in a 60 game suspension by the league, the heaviest punishment ever given to an NHL player.
September 19, 1991, after only playing 13 games for the oilers, Fuhr was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs along with Craig Berube and Glenn Anderson in exchange for Luke Richardson, Scott Thornton, Vincent Damphousse, and Peter Ing.
After a season and a half Fuhr was on his way to Buffalo, were he won the 1994 Jenning's Trophy with the Dominator, Dominik Hasek.
In the 1994-95 season Fuhr was reunited to his old Edmonton teammate Wayne Gretzky in Los Angeles were he only played 14 games.
As a free agent in 1995 he signed a contract with the St. Louis Blues. While the Blues were taking a chance on the veteran netminder, nobody could have imagined the results. Fuhr found a second wind with the Blues. He is once again one of the greatest goalies in the game.
Fuhr ranks 7th on the all-time wins list for goaltenders with 353 victories. He was runner-up for the NHL's Calder Trophy(rookie of the year) in 1981-82. He finished second behind Billy Smith for the Vezina Trophy that same year. He has played in six NHL All-star games.
